We came. We Pitched. We won.
I attended the first Make Mine A Million (http://www.makemineamillion.org/) Pitch Competition and Conference in Denver at the Marriott City Center on Monday, April 4th. I had never pitched my business before. I knew that having learned over the previous 5 weeks how to write a pitch, practice a pitch, and perfect my pitch…I was already a winner. I went from being nervous, unsure of myself and unclear in my communication….to nailing my pitch.
I didn’t do this alone. The incredible Make Mine A Million community of women helped me tremendously. The local steering committee organized Pitch Parties weekly. Generous supporters treated us to wine and appetizers. Hilary Blair, (http://hbvoice.com) the most amazing voice coach, was at each Pitch Party helping us, giving us constructive, supportive feedback. Each week I got better, and grew more confident. By the time the competition arrived, I felt really good about my pitch.
The conference itself was fantastic. There were highly professional breakout sessions on: image, financials and social media. We were treated to fabulous food and drink. We were inspired by hearing from women business owners who have grown their businesses well over the million dollar revenue mark, with the help of Count Me In and Make Mine a Million. Nell Merlino, founder and CEO of Count Me In encouraged us to set our goals higher, be good to ourselves, and work smarter. The staff and volunteers of Make Mine A Million took great care of us, working hard behind the scenes to pull of an impressive and flawless event. All this for a mere $49…and free if you paid with your American Express card, which I did. Thank you, American Express Open!
I won my pitch! I am now an M3 1000 Finalist. 61 women business owners and I won a FANTASTIC award package of cash, professional coaching, and other items. Now we move to the next phase to see if we can make it to the finish line.
If you are a woman business owner, don’t miss this opportunity to grow your business, network with other women from around the country, and to pitch your business. The next conference is in July in Philadelphia. Become a member for free at Count Me In, and Make Mine A Million. You, too will be a winner just by signing up!
